FAQ
GENERAL
HOW IS YOUR PRODUCT DIFFERENT THAN TILE?
Mincey tub and shower surrounds are panels vs. individual tiles and grout. Each shower typically features 1 back wall and 2 side walls. The look of grout you see is built into our mold design. You get the look and feel of tile and grout without the lengthy installation and tedious maintenance.
HOW IS YOUR PRODUCT DIFFERENT THAN FIBERGLASS?
Our shower walls and pans are made from solid cast marble - which consists of locally-sourced crushed stone and resin. This makes our products so durable that hotels have been using Mincey for decades. Unlike fiberglass, our products are not hollow. In fact, our pans weigh around 200 lbs.
ARE YOU IN THE BRAND STANDARDS?
Yes, Mincey is specified or approved by all the major hospitality brands. We've been in hotels for decades.
For specific brand standards, please contact us.
DO MINCEY MARBLE PRODUCTS COME WITH A WARRANTY?
Will you sell me material for my home?
HOW IS YOUR PRODUCT SHIPPED?
Your shower panels and pans will arrive on a flatbed truck (straight from our plant), packaged in crates made from real wood for the best protection possible.
Because we take such care, we're proud to have a .16% breakage rate.
Note: you will need a forklift with 6' long forks to move the crates. If you attempt to move the material with shorter forks, the panels will most likely snap.
Are Your Products Manufactured in the USA?
All of our cast marble products, including tub and shower panel systems, shower bases, and accessories are manufactured in Gainesville, Georgia. We are a family-owned company located here since 1977.
We also only use local marble suppliers. Our marble is sourced from quarries in North Georgia, not far from our own plant, while our resin comes from the Gulf Coast.

No, we specialize in the manufacture of tub and shower surrounds, pans, and accessories.
We ordered material from another supplier for our project and need to replace broken material ASAP. Can you please quickly supply replacements?
No. We do not advise mixing manufacturers on a jobsite. You will need to order replacement materials from the original supplier. When Mincey Marble supplies a project, we can produce replacement materials quickly so as not to disrupt the construction schedule.
INSTALLATION + MAINTENANCE
Do we need to use a certified installer?
You don’t have to, but we HIGHLY recommend that you do. These installers have been working with our products for years. They know how to uncrate and install our material, completing 8-16 showers per day.
If you choose not to use one our certified installers, we are more than happy to train someone from your team at our facilities in Gainesville, Georgia.
HOW DO YOU INSTALL THE SHOWER/TUB PANELS?
Our product is delivered direct to your jobsite. Panels will need to be cut to your specifications onsite. They are then dot-mount glued to the substrate (water-resistant drywall) with cast marble adhesive. No cement backerboard or waterproofing membranes necessary.
You can find installation instructions here.
HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR PANELS AND PANS?
For everyday cleaning, simply use a daily shower cleaner on your panels and pans. Refer to your cleaning supplier for recommendations. We have not seen negative effects from using any regular tub or shower cleaner on our products. After cleaning, be sure to rinse the shower completely. Products can accumulate on pan, causing slipperiness.
If they turn dingy or slippery, they can be easily cleaned to look like new. Refer to our cast marble care instructions.
What equipment do I need to unload your material?
The below is absolutely necessary to have on the jobsite to unload our products.
Shower pan & shower door deliveries – forklift with minimum 48” forks and a pallet jack
Panels – forklift with minimum 72” forks
Is your product adhered or set to studs?
Our tub and shower surrounds are adhered to the substrate with cast marble adhesive.
How does the your cast marble resist staining (e.g., hair dye, strong soaps, mildew)?
Cast marble is non-porous, making it impervious to mold and mildew and resistant to stains like nail polish and hair dye. It's so durable, you can give it a deep clean without damaging the gel coat finish, which is similar to what is used on boats.
What do you do for the seams where the panels meet?
Use 100% silicone where marble meets marble. Where marble meets substrate (sheetrock, etc.), use paintable latex caulk.
We highly recommend you purchase color-matching silicone for aesthetic purposes.
What substrate do I use?
Our panels can be dot-mount glued directly onto water-resistant drywall. No cement backerboard or waterproofing membranes necessary.
HOW DO I DRILL HOLES FOR THE SHOWERHEAD AND VALVE?
HOW DO I INSTALL NEW PRODUCT OVER EXISTING TILE?
Is there a recommended height to mount footrests and shampoo shelves?
We recommend installing footrests 12" from the top of the shower pan. For shampoo shelves, install 48" from the top of the shower pan.
WHAT DO I CAULK THE MARBLE WITH?
Use a color-matching, mildew resistant 100% silicone, inside the shower wherever marble is touching marble as well as where the marble touches the tub or shower pan. Mincey Install (not affiliated with Mincey Marble) offers silicone that matches our panels.
On the panel edges outside of the wet area and around the painted ceiling, we recommend using latex caulk.
